Glorious Results Of A Misspent Youth: (G.R.O.A.M.Y.) A piece by piece journey through the collections of tortured hoarder and weirdo artist, Rev. Chad Wells. Vinyl, cassettes, 8 tracks, videotape, toys, magazines and a glut of assorted ephemera collected over the last 36 years. Sometimes alphabetical, other times chronological but most times completely disorganized and blown apart at the seams. Some stuff is for sale and some will have to be wrenched from my boney, dead fingers. Welcome.

I can remember the very first moment that I heard the music of Mr. Biafra and company. It was as part of a feature on "Hardcore" on the USA TV show called "Night Flight". I was glued to the screen as Jello, in nasty green rubber gloves lunged about the stage, waving his hands wildly with a look in his eyes that I had yet to see in a musical performer. The next time I heard them, Rob Johnston, the drummer for my Junior High School garage band, The Darke Starz, was a fan of the band. We would walk home from school together and everyday he would strap on his Walkman headphones, drop his chin to his chest and head homeward. One day while walking home a particular lyric from "California Uber Alles" caught his attention - I can't remember what it was at this moment - I feel it's was the bit about the "drawstring lamp". Anyhow, he was explaining to me his take on the lyric and then he sat the headphones on my head, hit rewind, clicked play and the beginning strains of "California Uber Alles" filled my head. Standing there, on the bank of a stinky creek behind a local business, next to a large sewer drain I felt music in a way that I never had before. It frightened me. Black Sabbath had slightly spooked me and I loved the chill I would get whilst listening to Mercyful Fate but the reverb, the single note lines, the minor key, the way that it was so poorly played but in just the right way. I went home and hid all of my Cinderella and Poison records that day and instead of drawing KISS and Twisted Sister logos all over my schoolbooks and jeans I started replicating that simple little X with two extra vertical lines...
